Rondang S. E. Siregar PhD

Rondang has a strong academic background in biological and conservation science, and attained her PhD Degree in Biological Science at the University of Cambridge, UK. Since then, she has been working for over 25 years with particularly international and Indonesian NGOs and consultants. Her key qualifications include conservation planning, project development, program and project management, protected area management and forest and biodiversity conservation, primate rehabilitation and reintroduction, and HCV/S (High Conservation Value/High Carbon Stock) assessment and management. In various leading positions, she has conducted a range of forest, wildlife, and conservation projects across Indonesian archipelago, including in Sumatera, Kalimantan and Sulawesi. She also has a long and successful experiences in carrying out consultancy works for land-based private sector, including HCV/S assessment and biodiversity management for mining concessions and Industrial Timber Plantation (HTI) companies. Nurul L. Winarni, PhD

At Eco-Insight, Nurul L. Winarni serves as the expert on Biodiversity and Conservation Ecology, Biodiversity Monitoring and Safeguards, and GEDSI (Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion), supporting the company’s work on carbon and nature-based solution (NBS) projects. She is a Senior Researcher at the Research Center for Climate Change, Universitas Indonesia (RCCC-UI), with more than 25 years of experience as a field biologist and conservation scientist. She graduated in Biology from FMIPA Universitas Indonesia, earned her master’s degree from the Warnell School of Forest Resources, University of Georgia, USA, and completed her PhD at Manchester Metropolitan University, UK.
In Biodiversity and Conservation Ecology, her research focuses on bird population dynamics and the community ecology of birds and butterflies, particularly the effects of anthropogenic disturbance and the use of both taxa as ecological indicators. She has led and contributed to field research across Indonesia, including Sumatera (Lampung), Kalimantan, and Sulawesi (Buton), and as a member of the IUCN Species Survival Commission specialist groups, she is among the leading resource persons for Indonesian pheasants. In Biodiversity Monitoring and Safeguards, she brings deep expertise in survey methodology, monitoring design, and quantitative analysis, including Distance Sampling, capabilities that are essential for biodiversity baseline assessments, monitoring frameworks, biodiversity management plans (BMP), and environmental and social safeguards implementation in forest carbon projects. In GEDSI, she has strong experience in mainstreaming gender equality, disability, and social inclusion principles into climate and conservation programs, ensuring that project design, community engagement, and benefit distribution are inclusive of women, persons with disabilities, and marginalized groups. In the context of climate change, she also studies the impacts of climate change on the phenological patterns of tropical rainforest trees and on biodiversity responses. She is a co-founder of KupuKita, a citizen science initiative for urban butterfly monitoring in Indonesia.

He has strong analytical skills and a team player committed to sustainability.

Dr. Arif Zulkifli
Expertises: Environmental Management, Environmental Law, Energy Governance and Policy, Carbon, and Politic-Economic
Arif Zulkifli is an associate researcher at Research Center for Climate Change – University of Indonesia (RCCC-UI) who focuses on the governance aspects of the energy and land-based sector, starting from forestry and mining. He is also a lecturer at Mercu Buana University and holds a doctorate in Environmental Science from the University of Indonesia. Arif has in-depth knowledge and extensive experience in land use aspects in forest and land areas and how to synergize land use by communities, especially social forestry communities, with jurisdictional land use planning contained in spatial and regional planning. He is an environmental activist who actively writes and has published various books on the environment published by various leading publishers in Indonesia. He also has an extensive network with stakeholders in the forestry, mining and energy sectors, both national and subnational levels, including in North Sumatra as he is a local native of the province.

At Eco-Insight, Muhammad Irfansyah Lubis serves as the expert on Biodiversity and Safeguards, with particular focus on the development of CCB (Climate, Community & Biodiversity) certification components and Biodiversity Management Plans (BMP) for forest carbon and nature-based solution (NBS) projects. Dedicated to biodiversity conservation in Indonesia since 2009, he holds a bachelor’s degree in Forestry (wildlife conservation) from Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), a Master of Development Practice from James Cook University, Australia, under the Australia Awards Scholarship, and a PhD from the Asian School of the Environment, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (2023).
Irfansyah has built his career with leading conservation organizations, including WWF, GIZ, and the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) Indonesia, where he currently serves as Senior Wildlife Conservation Strategist. His core strength lies in leveraging GIS, remote sensing, and biodiversity survey data to strengthen conservation management—developing biodiversity monitoring programs, modeling threats, and conducting species distribution modeling for habitat prioritization, with a focus on critically endangered species such as the Sumatran tiger, Sumatran rhino, and Sumatran elephant. These capabilities translate directly into Eco-Insight’s work on biodiversity baseline assessments, High Conservation Value identification, biodiversity co-benefit quantification for CCB validation, and the design of measurable, science-based BMPs and safeguards frameworks. He also brings strong expertise in the social dimensions of conservation, including human-wildlife conflict management and community attitudes toward coexistence—essential elements of community and safeguards components under CCB standards. Irfansyah is proficient in advanced spatial and statistical tools (R, ArcGIS, MaxEnt, PRESENCE, ERDAS/ENVI) and has published extensively in leading international journals, including Current Biology, Biological Conservation, Oryx, and Frontiers in Ecology and Evolution.

At Eco-Insight, Rezky Lasekti Wicaksono serves as the expert on Carbon, Forest Governance, and Social Forestry, supporting the company’s work on forest carbon projects, policy analysis, and community-based forest management. He is a lecturer in Forest Management at the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), Indonesia, and earned his master’s degree in Forest Science from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). His primary expertise lies in forest management, with a particular focus on social forestry and forest policy and economics.
In Forest Governance and Policy, his research consistently examines forest management institutions, forestry policy, and forest economics—providing a strong analytical foundation for jurisdictional approaches, benefit-sharing arrangements, and the regulatory frameworks underpinning Indonesia’s carbon and FOLU Net-Sink agenda. In Social Forestry, he has been actively involved in various community engagement programs, including establishing women-led social forestry business groups, developing and strengthening Forest Farmer Groups (KTH) in conservation areas, and providing continuous support and mentoring for social forestry groups—experience that directly supports Eco-Insight’s services in technical facilitation for social forestry planning and the empowerment of forest-dependent communities. In the context of Carbon and Climate Change, he contributes to integrating community-based forest management into carbon project design, ensuring that social forestry schemes are positioned as credible pathways for emission reductions and equitable benefit distribution, and has written on forestry and climate change issues for Forest Digest magazine.
He is a member of the Tropical Forest Management and Ecotourism Research Group and the Center for the Protection and Empowerment of Farmers at UNS. As part of his collaboration with the business and industrial sector, he has served on the Impartiality Committee of Smart Quality System (SQS), a certification body, since 2021, and chairs the committee for the 2025–2026 term. He is also a member of the Indonesian Forest Management Community (KOMHINDO) and the Indonesian Network of Climate Change and Forestry Experts (APIK Indonesia).
