History of Eco-Insight

The establishment of this institution was initiated when founders from diverse backgrounds converged on a shared realization: environmental and climate change issues are collective concerns that must be addressed comprehensively and require cross-sector collaboration to ensure the survival of life on Earth. Over the past few decades, awareness of these critical issues has emerged from various parts of the world, including Indonesia. Policies that prioritize environmental aspects across all sectors have begun to surface, and business mindsets have started shifting toward sustainability, with companies vying to position themselves in the public eye as sustainable enterprises. Grassroots movements have also increasingly demanded the integration of sustainable development principles into all facets of development.

In response to this situation, and drawing from extensive experience and reflection, the founders—each deeply engaged in these issues from diverse professional fields—felt a calling to contribute a comprehensive perspective. This perspective aims to assist governments in crafting policies, guide businesses in implementing sustainable practices with a commitment to net-zero goals, and raise public awareness of the impacts of these issues, encouraging communities to monitor development activities around them closely. Thus, in August 2023, the founders agreed to establish a consulting firm named Eco-Insight. True to its name, the institution strives to provide comprehensive ecological insights into every policy, plan, and human endeavor, particularly in business sectors involving natural resource extraction. These insights are grounded in robust scientific knowledge drawn from multiple disciplines and attuned to local contexts.

With such an approach, Eco-Insight aspires to become a credible consulting firm supporting policymakers in formulating improved policies, enabling businesses to develop sustainable ventures that account for environmental, social, and economic considerations, and enhancing the welfare of communities—especially those historically marginalized by development and commercial activities. Since its inception, Eco-Insight has invited experts from various fields to join, recognizing that these efforts require the contributions of many, not just a few.
